Notes:

Arthur Titus was a physician who practiced medicine at Powellsville, OH, before the Civil War. He was educated at Starling Medical College, Columbus, OH, and Cincinnati College of Medicine, where he received his degree in 1861. In 1863 he enlisted in Company A of the 16th Regiment Ohio National Guards. In 1864 he was appointed Assistant Surgeon in the First Regiment of West Virginia Cavalry, and later was promoted to Surgeon of the Third West Virginia Cavalry. In the latter months of the war he served as acting Brigade Surgeon of the Third Brigade, Third Division of Cavalry, Custer’s famous “Red Neck Tie” Brigade. After the war he practiced medicine in Wheelersburg, OH, but moved to Sturgeon , MO, in 1872. He returned to Portsmouth, OH, in 1881, where he remained actively engaged in the practice of his profession until his death.

 

Frank H. Titus was a surgeon who served with the U. S. Volunteers in the Philippines after the Spanish-American War.

 

Sarah Catherine Titus was the illegitimate daughter of Arthur Titus and Elizabeth McGee.
